Recogito Studio
We used Software Development and UX Design to create a collaborative annotation platform that evolved into Recogito Studio for the University of Bonn.

A collaborative tool for annotating images and text in the classroom, inspired by Recogito and Annotation Studio, and developed from scratch with fully modern architecture.
Project Included
Annotation
Recogito Studio uses W3C standard web annotation natively, and allows groups of students and professors to collaborate in real time with shared and read-only layers.
Images
It is easy to import a IIIF manifest and pdfs for interactive collaboration in the classroom. Students can write comments or add annotations and tags.
Text
Instructors can upload TEI-XML text for annotation by students, create assignments for course sections, and export annotations.

Software Development
We built the platform from scratch for classroom use, enabling real-time collaboration, precise permissions, and GDPR-compliant privacy.
User Experience Design
Designed to enable professors and students to work seamlessly, this platform integrates powerful features like read-only layers, multi-page documents, private and public annotations, and customizable user and document subgroups.
