Ground Beneath Our Feet
We developed Data and Maps to create Ground Beneath Our Feet, an experiential research and curriculum initiative at Pace University.
A set of web-based tools that connect students to history through spatial and temporal visualizations of New York City and the Hudson Valley.
Project Included
Data
We developed data curation tools to support collaborative modeling, collection, and publication of research data.
Maps
We built visualization components for student researchers to explore data via map and timeline views, with search and exhibit publishing capabilities.
Project Management
Working collaboratively with project stakeholders, we met weekly to define goals, articulate features, plan logistics, and track progress. We ensured that the project and instructors were ready to launch at the beginning of the semester.
Software Development
We developed a tailored data management system to support teachers, researchers and students in collecting, curating, and publishing historical data with spatial and temporal dimensions.
User Experience Design
We developed custom tools that empower students to collect, analyze, and contextualize data, enabling them to contribute to research and share the stories of local communities across time.
